Lawyers for Ideal Living sent YouTuber Reckless Ben a twenty-page letter and gave him five business days to publish a prominent correction on his trafficking documentaries or face additional legal remedies. They also demanded he disable comments on the videos. He posted his reply on Oct. 12, 2026.

Chief executive Peter Spiegel and co-chief executive Katie Williams run Ideal Living, which sells Air Doctor and AquaTru purifiers from Ventura Boulevard in Los Angeles. Former employees told Ben the company funds Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat, a religious group whose guru Prakashanand Saraswati was convicted on child molestation charges in Texas and later fled before sentencing. Ideal Living has pursued whistleblowers in civil court.

Attorney Nick Sultman wrote that the truth was far more boring than fiction. The company said contractor David Najar lost work over weak sales, that senior brand manager Myra lobbied executives to bring him back, and that the pair then fabricated trafficking claims to extort nine figures. Sultman said four separate courts had reached the same conclusion. Ben asked Sultman to name the four courts and received no answer.

Ben called Sultman, left voicemails, and tried to reach his office. Sultman declined live interviews but eventually emailed the full letter. Ben offered to publish a raw, unedited on-camera statement if Sultman would sign a no-edit agreement. Sultman refused.

The letter required Ben to address each plot point on air or risk suit. Ideal Living argued Najar and Myra were romantic partners, that Myra was not a whistleblower because she relied on public searches, and that Spiegel ended any tie to Saraswati on the day of the 2011 conviction. Ben pulled fuller court transcripts and said Spiegel's remark that he loved Myra came in the context of criticizing her storytelling.

Journalists including Karen Johnson have published U.S. marshals records describing how Ideal Living employee Allison Kafro helped Saraswati flee to Mexico disguised as an elderly woman. Ideal Living told Ben that Spiegel testified under oath that he had nothing to do with the group after conviction day. Ben asked whether Spiegel's timeline matched reporting that Spiegel dined with Saraswati near the criminal proceedings. The firm called that accusation unsupported and pointed to marshals and FBI work on the escape.

When Ben asked for primary documents supporting the nine-figure extortion claim, Ideal Living sent court filings that rested on Spiegel's sworn testimony that Najar and Myra threatened the company unless it paid. Najar told Ben he quit by email from a company account Ideal Living later locked. He said he testified in an earlier hearing that he lacked access to those messages, not that the messages never existed on Ideal Living servers.

The letter warned that death threats had followed Ben's uploads. Ideal Living reported eighty-nine threats against tens of millions of views. Earlier settlement talks in the civil litigation had required whistleblowers to destroy recordings of meetings with Spiegel. Ben said copies had already gone to multiple news outlets before the deletions.

Ideal Living's strongest extortion exhibits remained Spiegel's own sworn statements. Sultman never supplied the names of the four courts he said had cleared the company.
