Jagex revealed a RuneScape animated series at RuneFest

Lyrical Animation and MoistCr1TiKaL will adapt the MMORPG after the studio's Bloodborne project with Jacksepticeye.

Jagex CEO Jon Bellamy told players at RuneFest that the developer is working with Lyrical Animation and MoistCr1TiKaL on an animated take on RuneScape. Charlie White, who posts as MoistCr1TiKaL and penguinz0, will produce through Meatier Productions.

Lyrical Animation is the shop behind an upcoming Bloodborne film that Jacksepticeye is producing. White's role mirrors that setup: he is billed as a producer and as a longtime player who knows the game's lore.

Bellamy said RuneScape's world has been shaped by players for 25 years and that Jagex sees room to bring Gielinor to new audiences outside games. "For 25 years, our players have helped shape RuneScape's extraordinary world, its characters and its stories," he said. "When we talk about the future of RuneScape, we don't just mean games. We see huge potential to bring Gielinor to life in new ways, both for the millions who already know and love it and for a whole new audience. It's early days, but we're excited to explore that potential with Charlie and the team at Lyrical Animation, and we wanted our players to be the first to know."

Lyrical Animation creative director Daniel Dominguez said in a statement, "RuneScape has such a unique storytelling voice, at once laugh-out-loud funny and effortlessly insightful." He added, "To be allowed to help bring that to life for its millions of fans alongside our dear friend Charlie again is a dream come true."

White and Lyrical are also adapting White's comic Godslap as a 2D animated film slated for 2028.
