Amazon limited YouTube Shopping tags to a curated catalog

U.S. Partner Program creators can tag Amazon items in videos, Shorts, and livestreams for commission paid through AdSense.

Amazon limited which products U.S. creators can tag through YouTube Shopping to a curated catalog, Tubefilter reported Thursday. YouTube said the retailer joined its Shopping affiliate program on Aug. 27.

Creators enrolled in both the YouTube Partner Program and the Amazon Influencer or Associate programs may link approved items in long-form videos, Shorts, and livestreams. Amazon supplies a list of highly requested and trending products rather than opening its full marketplace for tagging.

Creators can ask YouTube Support to add a product that is not listed, though approval is not guaranteed. Commissions average between 2% and 4% of the sale price and arrive bundled with regular AdSense payouts. If a viewer returns a purchase, YouTube deducts the prior commission from the creator's next check.

Viewers outside the United States may be directed to merchants that ship to their location. Creators earn no commission when a purchase is completed off Amazon's platform.

YouTube said more than 1 million creators have enrolled in Shopping, and gross merchandise value grew thirteenfold from the first quarter of 2024 to the first quarter of 2026.
