Garrett Clark apologized for Good Good's Callaway driver ad

The August 22 spot showed the YouTube group shoving Alexis Miestowski before Callaway pulled it and partners paused deals.

Garrett Clark, co-founder of Good Good Golf, apologized on August 26 for his role in a Callaway driver ad that drew backlash for depicting violence against women, Dexerto reported.

Good Good Golf posted the spot on August 22 to promote a co-branded Callaway driver to the channel's more than 2 million YouTube subscribers. In it, Clark shoves Alexis Miestowski as she reaches for the club and tells her not to touch the driver.

Callaway removed the ad and apologized. Callaway Golf CEO Chip Brewer said Callaway had approved the video before posting and that approval should never have happened. The Golf Channel and PGA Tour were among partners that paused their relationships with the creators.

Clark addressed the fallout in an eight-minute video, saying the concept was meant as a reference to the film Obsession but landed as a "terrible ad." "I personally want to apologize for playing the role in this skit at the magnitude that I did," he said. "This is not at all what we stand for."

Clark called much of the criticism "very justified" and said his "skin was crawling" after watching the posted ad. He also said Miestowski had received unacceptable messages in her DMs and asked viewers to direct anger at him rather than his co-star.
