Steve Hamilton called the hypercar market a bubble about to burst
He told Graham Stephan that fake bids on Bring a Trailer and limited Ferrari runs helped inflate seven-figure prices.
Steve Hamilton said the hypercar market is a bubble about to burst. He valued his collection at about $16 million and traced the run-up to fake bidding on Bring a Trailer and to Ferraris that now sell for seven or eight million dollars after launching near two million.
Graham Stephan brought the automotive YouTuber back on The Iced Coffee Hour while collectors debate how much of the exotic market is real. Hamilton runs Fitment Industries and films The Hamilton Collection.
Hamilton said Ferrari and Pagani lie about production numbers, naming both when Stephan asked which manufacturers he meant. He said seventy-five percent of today's hypercars looked overpriced to him and that the broader American auto market had skewed high-end, with dealers making more from fewer, pricier cars.
He said visitors would come in and sit in his Lamborghini pitching Forex investments. Hamilton said he made his own Forex bet that failed within a year while he still pays $11,000 a month on the lease.
Stephan asked how far Hamilton had explored selling the company recently. Hamilton said potential fake bids on Bring a Trailer were part of what had pushed values up beyond what he believed the cars were worth.
