YouTube labeled YouTube Music tracks that used generative AI heavily

YouTube said the tags will later reach music videos in its main app.

YouTube said YouTube Music began rolling out labels on October 14 for tracks where generative AI played a significant role in the music listeners hear.

When a track qualifies, an AI label appears on the player page below the title. Tapping it opens a menu with additional disclosure about how the model was used, including cases where AI created composition, vocals, or other major parts of the song.

YouTube said it is working with music partners and its own detection tools to flag eligible tracks, using the same labeling principles it already applies to AI-generated video on the platform.

YouTube said those music labels will also expand to the main YouTube app, where much of its catalog plays as music videos and related audio.

Disclosure standards for uploaders are spelled out in the YouTube Help Center.
