YouTube integrated Gemini conversational editing into Shorts and Create

Made On YouTube also brought Ask Studio feedback, dynamic thumbnails, and opt-in AI comment moderation tests.

Aparna Pappu, YouTube's vice president, said at Made on YouTube the platform is weaving Gemini into a conversational editing assistant for Shorts and the YouTube Create app. Creators can start from suggested prompts or their own, then chat through frame reorders, trims, and music synced to the beat while switching back to manual timeline edits.

Pappu said hundreds of thousands of channels used Gemini in Shorts and Create each day in August 2026, after YouTube moved Gemini Omni intelligence into those products earlier in the year. A GenAI trends report the post cited put 72% of U.S. video posters ages 14 to 44 using AI to create or edit in the past year.

YouTube Studio gained Ask Studio feedback on pacing, structure, and storytelling, plus dynamic thumbnails that serve different options to audience segments. Creators have run more than 40 million title and thumbnail A/B tests since that feature launched in 2024, and cut A/B testing for up to three hooks is coming soon.

YouTube said it is testing opt-in AI comment moderation that learns a channel's tone, and that billions of channels can sign up for automated deepfake detection. Later in 2026 it will combine speaking voice detection with facial likeness matching and put likeness controls in the mobile app.
